For a while Montera has had a regular old gym design, but now the Eat. Learn. Play. Foundation has helped us make a new gym that looks way better than the original. Our gym teachers, principal, as well as some students shared their thoughts with me on the new gym’s design.
Our PE Teachers:
Our PE teachers have commented on the new gym and generally seem to like it. They say that they like the new design mainly because of its paint job and the newly added electronic basketball hoops that go up and down. They say that NBA star Stephen Curry’s foundation Eat. Learn. Play. is sponsoring the gym to help the OUSD community.
Students:
The students that I interviewed were very enthusiastic about the new gym. The main things people like about the gym is that it will look different and fresh compared to our crusty old gym, and the fact that NBA star Stephen Curry’s foundation Eat. Learn. Play is sponsoring it. The main con about the new gym is that kids would end up destroying it over time like the old gym. Students argue that they should have funded a new field instead because our field looks like a WWI battle zone that grew grass and has kids on it.
The new gym for Montera looks great and will be great for the many school years to come with the sweet new design, NBA star and his foundation sponsoring it and it being more modern than its 1959 version. The new gym will have a bright future and the last things to work on in the gym will be finished next week.
