On Oct. 31 Mx. Jawdat and other Montera Staff crowned the Halloween Costume Contest winners in the MUR.
Mx. Jawdat was in charge of the annual event and was assisted by a team of other Montera staff. Ms. Sho, Ms. Recco, Mr. Bell and Ms. Esquivel were the staff who served as the judges for chaperoning this spooky event also as our judges. It was on Halloween that the new costume contest winners for 6,7 and 8th grades were crowned with candy and bragging rights.
The winners of each Middle School grade will be selected by Originality, Detail and Presentation. If one person from each grade can fill in all these boxes then they will be rewarded with huge bags of candy and ultimate bragging rights at Montera. For every 6,7 or 8th grader dressed up in a creative costume is well on their way to having these rights. The winners for this event are 6 Grade: Isadora Karajin as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas, 7 Grade: Arabella Geminiuc as an Alcatraz Prisoner and 8 Grade: Nicolas Vlahos as Nux from Mad Max.
Mx. Jawdat’s Costume Contest has been a great showing of creativity amongst the students of each grade. The best costumes from each class have had a chance to be the new costume contest winners. These winners gave the judges what they wanted in terms of Originality, Detail and Presentation and now the bags of candy belong to the winners.
The Costume Dress Code is strict for safety reasons and the staff wanted students to follow the code. The Costume Dress Code has always been followed by students as well as staff who are allowed to dress up but not participate in the contest. This code has been followed for 5 years and further back on this contest’s history in Montera. This makes the contest more appropriate.
In conclusion the Halloween Costume Contest has chosen its next winners from each grade in a successful scoring matter of style and appearance. The Contest has concluded and the judges have concluded their decisions.
