The Montera Middle School has recently put together its very own student-run newspaper, the Matador.
The Matador has just finally all come together and officially started; and with it going off to a great start, it is time to analyze some data. After countless interviews and voting trials, I have finally been able to gather enough data to put together the list of the top four employees of the month. Starting with number four at the top, and number one at the end.
4: Jackson Masuret
Jackson Masuret is one of the hardest-working journalists in the Matador. He is able to work on multiple articles at a time, meeting tight deadlines and gathering fascinating quotes. Jackson is known to be the father of the Matador; and one of four who came up with the idea. He also pledged his life to the Matador and the farm podcast was on his birthday so it was a fun time as well.
3: Sydney Lee
Sydney has the second-highest votes for employee of the month after Devika. She is the first-ever named Editor in Chief (E.I.C), leaving her to manage and oversee all the other editorial boards’ positions. Being in Sydney’s position, she is practically like Ms. Quiter’s right-hand man, working alongside her, constantly editing and collaborating with her on what to do and how to go about our paper. Sydney is overall a great writer and editor, she is always on top of her work and willing to help any of her classmates out.
2: Devika Kofoed
Devika is undoubtedly one of the hardest workers in the class and is named The Matador’s official sports editor. Over this year, she has written many relevant and fascinating news articles, like the one on President Trump’s new policies in office, and the other about the stolen Spider Monkey from the Oakland Zoo. Her ability to find and gather information and sources on her topics is super impressive… like how she was able to get ahold of reporters and investigators from the crime scene after the spider monkey was rescued. We can all agree that Devika’s hard work and dedication to the paper has been noticed.
Employee of the Month:
1: Ms. Quiter
Unsurprisingly, Ms. Quiter was named the employee of the month. Although she doesn’t write articles, she is the teacher advisor of our class, and without her, the Matador would not have been possible. Ms. Quiter has assigned the student editors positions, constantly shares different news stories with the class, edits/assists students with our articles, etc… Ms. Quiter is definitely the hardest worker in the class, and her dedication to our paper is like no other. She is a dedicated and helpful leader who encourages us all to work to the best of our abilities!
