Last minute, students from art program classes like band and orchestra were given the opportunity to go to the Hamilton production. Students were asked to submit a permission slip if they wanted to go. Many students turned in permission slips but only 146 kids from Montera were chosen to participate. Two days after the permission slips were handed out all the chosen students received confirmation emails from the school telling them they could go.
When the day came students came to the Montera Middle School back parking lot and were separated into groups and got on the bus, but then there was a big problem. 6 students were told they were not allowed to go, then soon realized that there were 3 extra tickets. The kids did rock paper scissors to see who got the tickets. The 3 kids that got the tickets got on the bus and the buses drove off.
When the buses arrived at the play, the students went inside the theatre and were pleasantly surprised to find bags with snacks and drinks to enjoy during the play. Students were surprised to see Stephen Curry at the play on the stage. He gave a speech and then the play started.
At the intermission, kids rushed to try and say hi to Stephen Curry but were blocked by his bodyguards. The intermission was only 5 minutes so after trying to say hi to Curry kids went back to the play. After the play was over the buses were waiting outside and they got on reluctantly because they didn’t want to leave then the buses left. It was a great play and most people would go again.
