Montera students are deeply influenced by the music they listen to, so what’s on their headphones?

Results are in. 8th grade older students can’t stop listening to frank ocean and billie eilish, placing the spot as top fan favorites. Across all grades rap is the supreme genre, with all students agreeing upon it. Hip hop and r&b also showed up as heavy genres across students but nothing beat rap.
Eighth graders choose SZA, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil baby for the peak songs within their grade. Meanwhile seventh graders have travis scott, ice spice, and olivia rodrigo playing on a repeat. Balancing upbeat music with powerful lyrics. And sixth graders are just starting to pick what they like: lana del ray, sexy redd and rodd wave.
EIghth graders in montera tend to enjoy more deep, meaningful lyrics compared to seventh graders who like the best of both worlds, upbeats and downbeats. We see 6th graders tend to listen to what’s trending on platforms like tiktok and instagram with upbeat dances to match.
